American Heritage Dictionary 5 App Reviews

  • Great dictionary!

    By David Lar
One feature I like is being able to highlight definitions and have it read back to you. Other developers don’t allow this. Also when doing a word search that is misspelled it gives suggestions that are better than others.
  • Utterly broken

    By mtumatsci
The latest update broke this app completely. You can search or browse for words, but no entry appears. Does anyone even try this stuff out before they ship it?
  • Bookmarks issues

this is the worst app every, keeps loosing the bookmarks...
  • Fixed!

The excellent AHD now works in iOS 10.
  • Love this dictionary

    By JBHouston
I upgraded to this app (AHD5) after being a very satisfied AHD4 user. I also use the Oxford American English Dictionary (OAED), but find that AHD5 provides more thorough and more nuanced definitions than the OAED does. AHD5 also contains entries for many more words. This is reflected in the app's rather large size. Initially, there were bugs in AHD5's iOS 10 support, but those were fixed very quickly. Thank you for that.

Unable to open the app - crash immediately upon opening the app.
  • Very Unstable Update

    By craizin
After installing the AHD5 update on a iPhone 7 Plus, this app is extremely unstable. Pretty much anything I try doing causes the app to quit unexpectedly. Please fix.
  • The forth is gone

    By Ali Apple
I had bought the 4th deluxe edition with Rogers. I gave more then $ 28 and now it's gone from the AppStore. YOU DID NOT DISCOUNT YOU GIVE MY MONEY BACK. I can't even open this dictionary because there is no discount for me. What about that deluxe version. I have to get a respond for my inconvenience...
  • I LOVE it

Admirably Precise, Precisely Admirable. --- Just Perfect!
  • Are you ****ing kidding me?

    By Considerably Disappointed
This is ridiculous. I have had this dictionary for 4 years. I bought the d@mn thing when it was $40, the very first time they offered it. I am not about to give them more money for some stupid product that wants to do more than just let a user look up another word. This application has been the albatross about my neck for years. I put up with it because I spent a huge chunk of money on the app, and the app did what I needed it to do (although superfluously). If you want to deal with an app that is bloated and is usually the largest app by size in your app library, then fine. But, for this poor sucker, I am not dealing with this absurdity anymore. Stop this madness and stop price gauging because you can't be content with the product as it was intended. You took something simple and bloated it, then made it complicated and pricey... AGAIN. I guess my last words will not be in English. Sayonara!!!
