Hinge: Dating & Relationships App Description

HINGE, DESIGNED TO BE DELETED Hinge is the dating app for people who want to get off dating apps. And it’s working. Currently, 3 out of 4 times Hinge members want to go on a second date, we’re the #1 mobile-first dating app mentioned in the New York Times wedding section, and we’re the fastest growing dating app in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. HOW WE GET YOU OFF HINGE In today’s digital world, singles are so busy matching that they’re not actually connecting, in person, where it counts. Hinge is on a mission to change that. So we built an app that’s designed to be deleted. * We quickly learn your type. You’ll only be introduced to the best people for you. * We give you a sense of someone’s personality. You’ll get to know potential dates through their unique answers to prompts, and personal information like religion, height, and politics. * We make it easy to start a conversation. Every match begins by someone liking or commenting on a specific part of your profile. * We ask how your dates are going. After exchanging phone numbers with a Match, we’ll follow up to hear how your date went so we can make better recommendations in the future. The app is free to use. Members looking to see who likes them or to set advanced preferences can upgrade to a Preferred Membership. THE BUZZ ABOUT HINGE “Hinge’s CEO says a good dating app relies on vulnerability, not algorithms.” - Washington Post "Hinge is the first dating app to actually measure real-world success" - TechCrunch “A great option for those fed up with temporary love.” -TheNextWeb SUBSCRIPTION INFO Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period Account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period Subscriptions may be managed and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to Account Settings after purchase Support: hello@hinge.co Terms of Service: https://hinge.co/terms.html Privacy Policy: https://hinge.co/privacy.html

  • Theft & Discrimination

The profiles of black men are automatically targeted and banned for NO REASON. The app creators keep black men off the app by deleting their paid accounts with no explanation! It is absolutely mind-blowing that the app has been getting away with this for YEARS! However, we are spreading the word so that this discrimination stops permanently. And those responsible are uncovered!
  • Horrible and racist app! BEWARE!

The owners of this app will automatically delete the accounts of certain African American men as soon as they are found to be members. Incredibly racist and discriminatory. Black lives certainly do NOT matter on this platform. Furthermore, there is NO appeals process and no one to speak with once you are discriminated against. They simply steal your subscription fee and you have ZERO recourse. We will be sharing our experiences, as well as other innocent victim’s stories of their racist treatment online. Please BEWARE and do not support such abuse against minorities!

As dynamic as this dating app is where you get to reply to question prompts or pictures it still runs into problems; the biggest being scammers and illicit behavior of “people”. I have encountered scammers, people selling sexual services, and absurdly rude people. This really hampers the hype of this app and so puts my mind off. The only time you know someone is real is when they hook up their instagram account. But there is no real authentication of the person so about 80 percent of people are fake. I was hyped for this app but im ultimately disappointed by how Hinge handles these people and way to enforce rules.
  • Promising, but not quite there

Historically, I have not had difficulty finding women to date, but the pandemic provided an opportunity to try this route. There is no shortage of attractive, well-educated, seemingly good natured women on Hinge. My sister is on Hinge and shows me the kind of guys she comes across. The women seem of much higher caliber, both in looks and professional aspirations, than the men. I should stick out given my competition—I finished college, I have a job, I’m not bad looking, I have high quality photos, I’m respectful in the chat room... Premium: My thought with going premium was that using more likes would result in more matches. That was not the case. I continued to receive about one match every three days and almost no likes. When I would send a very safe conversation starter to a match, they typically would not respond. The most useful feature is free—the Dealbreaker. I do not see the advantages of a premium account. Premium members should gain insight into user activity as well as have their own profiles appear more frequently. There are so many amazing profiles on Hinge, but it is hard to believe these women are sifting through all of their likes regularly. Additionally, I ran out of profiles within the first week of premium, so having unlimited likes became irrelevant. *I would reconsider downloading Hinge if they gave very active/premium profiles some badge or notation showing that. Simple incentives for streaks or matches might result in better user activity, also. Bonus round: Most frequently used profile answers I saw... Key to my heart: Chick-Fil-A nuggets Overly competitive about: literally everything Geek out on: The Office, GOT, Grey’s Anatomy I’m the kind of texter who: doesn’t Irrational fear: names a totally rational fear likes heights or sharks *Variations on comparing Moe’s and Chipotle, hating pineapple on pizza, and wanting guys to be able dance Cheers, JG
  • Probably good if you’re willing to pay $20/month.

I’m sure this app is great if you’ll pay $20/month for it. But using the free version is incredibly limited and frustrating, you can’t even look at comments without sequentially going through every like, or see anyone’s profiles. It’s so limited I don’t even want to try an actual subscription. Pretty sure prior versions of this app were much more versatile. Designed to be deleted for sure, but not because you’ve found a match....
  • 10 likes a day, $20 a month for unlimited

Used while abroad and didn’t get any matches so I gave up due to very limited choices at the time. Deleted it to take a break. Come back to it half a year later to find account has been banned...This is definitely designed to be deleted and never ever paid for or used. I could easily bypass the ban through various methods to create a new account, but they don’t deserve a penny. Goodbye
  • Banned me with no warning for no reason

I’ve used the app for two weeks. I finally met a guy and went to go on the app again only for them to say I was banned. Mind you I had just got an emery from the app I got a message. And now I can’t even appeal.
