    While many free aspects remain, it is clear Niantic has made a GIGANTIC shift to predatory, money-snatching gaming. If you want to enjoy the game at all, you need DEEP pockets.

    My game play has slowly dwindled over the past year or so. Each update seems to downgrade the app and game play. But this avatar update? This is revolting. I flat out refuse to play until this is fixed. Not sure what on earth Niantic was thinking but this is truly awful. 👋

    I’ve played since 2016 including on deployments. The recent updates are confusing. I purchased and loved wearing Snorlax pajamas. The app used to encourage me to walk off my Snorlax figure. Now my avatar now looks like a clown in them: a child-faced medicham cosplaying as Snorlax. How can a game mess up Snorlax pajamas? The “options” to fix this are abysmal: it’s which clown mirror do you want to look in. Proportions are horrendous. The face & hair limited options… Is this Pokémon? I think it’s time to take a break from Pokémon Go.

    The game is incredibly fun but changes (like the recent avatar update, the remote raid pass price increase, the reimplementation of walking requirements) made by management seem to be extremely tone deaf and disconnected from the audience of people who actually love and support this game. As an example I can personally say that I have spent $4/$5 on avatar items that I now think look awful because of the new avatar models. It just always seems like it’s one step forward and two steps back and like the company actively wants people to stop playing the game, which is a shame because the game is a blast at times.
