An app asking your SSN, DOB, address etc …

This used to be a great app. It is now unusable without paying them $5 a month in a subscription, which makes no sense, most people use this a few times a year at most to settle up a few group expenses. Delete

The app was really easy to use, available features did the job and made it all work very well.

Very frustrated to see long-appreciated features (such as attach images/pdfs) put behind a paywall. If there was an option, I’d be willing to purchase a lifetime subscription to support this app I’ve loved and advertised to my friends. But a recurring subscription for once-free features feels slimy.

Very unfortunate that I cannot set it up in Mexican pesos.

Everyone in your group needs to have an account, otherwise you can’t use the app at all. I was under the impression you could put everyone’s expenses in and have the app split it fairly, but it requires everyone involved to download the app and give their name or phone number to create an account. Definitely do not recommend.

Splitwise added a daily limit of only 4 transaction entries per day, 2 of which require you to wait 10 seconds staring at ads for their premium subscription before you can enter the transaction. This change was not communicated to users beforehand and is a clear example of hostile design to force users into subscriptions. I’ve used this app for 8 years but will switch to another service. Please stay away and use something else.

Can only add 4 expenses a day.. then you have to get pro.. I like to sit down at the end of the trip and add everything, so not convenient for free users. Also not worth paying that much for pro.

Been using this free app for years. Tried to split a bill today and see you’re forcing users into the Pro version with the timer and limited # of expenses. Immediately deleted and never going back.
