HextEdit is a fast and lightweight hex editor for viewing and editing binary data. Quickly edit virtually any file type at a low level in a simple and native app. Key Features * Byte inspector Edit bytes as little or big endian signed or unsigned integers, floats, or doubles. View values as binary, decimal, or hexadecimal numbers. * Fast incremental find Find strings, integers, and byte patterns in files. HextEdit has incremental background find, allowing you to continue working while searching very large files. * Fast and native HextEdit runs natively on both Intel-based CPUs and Apple Silicon for great performance. Built using Swift, HextEdit uses an efficient data structure for fast editing of files big or small. * Designed for macOS From the app icon to the full-height sidebar, HextEdit is designed to fit in with macOS and resizes well to adapt to any use case. HextEdit App Reviews

  • OK for what it does

What it does, it seems to do well. But it misses some essential features: - Can't view file data in any format other than bytes. Sometimes data is a sequence of 16- or 32-bit words, but you get no help here. (You can select data to view in another format.) - Can't print! Seriously! Unless you absolutely need the edit feature, may not be worth ten bucks to you.
  • Confusing on first try

Yeah, the app loaded and immediately opens the "File Dialog" ... and that got me off track so I would not "open" again. I was expecting the app to launch and go to the top menu... but ok.
  • Fantastic hex editor!

Great hex editor and does most of what I'd like. Three points of improvement: first, I'd like an option for a horizontal offset display, not just the vertical one. Second, there needs to be support for different encoding schemes. I assume it just uses ANSI currently. Third, there should be tab support. A new window is spawned for each file currently.

Searching is quick and the interface doesn't get in your way. Very responsive.
  • Copy doesn't work for more than 1 million bytes

If morethan 1 million bytes are selected, copy button is dimmed.
  • Very, very nice.

Follows the rule, "Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler", and does it to perfection. Just what you need to look at binary files. As a fantastic bonus, you can highlight data and it will automatically show that data in different formats such as floating point. And it will do big and little endian. Finn thought of everything! Thanks!
  • Perfect for what it does
